Alyssa Lundahl is a senior Psychology major with a minor in Women's Health and Wellness from Laurel, Nebraska. As a UCARE and McNair scholar, Alyssa is currently conducting research under the guidance of Dr. David J. Hansen in teh Child Maltreatment Lab, Dr. Timothy D. Nelson in the Pediatric Health Lab, and Dr. Robert F. Belli in the Cognitive Psychology Lab. As a research assistant in the Child Maltreatment Lab, Alyssa is currently involved in the preparation of two professional manuals (Behavioral Observation for Preschoolers System and Student-Teacher Interaction Coding System) to be used as live-observation coding systems in preschool classrooms. In the Pediatric Health Lab, she has been actively involved in a project designed to examine the relationships between life stressors and physical health in a low-income, pediatric sample, and has taken the lead role on writing a manuscript using data from this project. Lastly, with the help of Dr. Robert F. Belli, Alyssa has deisgned and is currently undergoing data collection for a study examining the relationships between disordered eating behaviors, creativity, dissociative personalities, and false memories and beliefs

In addition to her involvement in research, Alyssa is active in a number of campus organizations, including: President of the Psi Chi Honor Society, President of the Undergraduate Psychology Organization, a member of the Dean's Scholar Society, a member of the Honor's Program, the teaching assistant for PSYC 471 (Human Sexuality), and a past member of Students Helping Members Nurture Esteem (SHINE) and Eating Disorder Education and Prevention (EDEP). Lastly, she has gained clinical experience as a volunteer for a number of community organizations including a crisis line advocate for the Voices of Hope sexual abuse hotline, a women's advocate for the Friendship Home domestic violence shelter, and a co-therapist for the parent support group for Project SAFE (Sexual Abuse Family Education).

Alyssa's long term research and career interests include examining more self-driven methods of eating- and weight-related treatment and exploring how personality characteristics, comorbid psychopathology, and societal factors may influence development, duration, and treatment of eating- and weight-related issues. As such, she intends to earn a doctoral degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in the eating- and weight-related research.
