Jessie is currently a fifth year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Training Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Her clinical and research interests include both child maltreatment and pediatric psychology.  She is partnering closely with the local Child Advocacy Center for her dissertation project to improve the identification of children who are at highest risk of sexual abuse.  She is currently working on the pediatric unit of a children’s rehabilitation hospital, providing services to children and families and consultation with the pediatric team.  Prior experiences include coordinating Project SAFE, a group treatment for children who have experienced sexual abuse and their non-offending caregivers, teaching undergraduate psychology courses (Psyc 430: Psychology of Family Violence, Psyc 289: Developmental Psychology, Psyc 489: Child Behavior and Development), and working as a mental health consultant for an Early Head Start Home-based program and Head Start school-based program in Lincoln, NE.

Jessie graduated from the University of Michigan in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and a minor in French.  After graduation, she spent a year working for a wilderness therapy program in northern Georgia before returning to the University of Michigan.  As a research associate there, her work focused on obesity and stress in low-income populations and she worked closely with Head Start programs throughout the state.

For fun, Jessie loves to travel, read, watch old movies, and find new recipes for all kinds of baked goods.
