About Yanelli

Yanelli Guzman (she/her) graduated with honors from California State University, Fullerton in 2023 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. As an undergraduate, Yanelli was part of the McNair Scholars Program. She conducted her undergraduate thesis on aversive bias in court cases relating to defendants suffering from mental illnesses. Yanelli has also had experience working in a neuro-cognitive lab under Dr. Ron Mangun at UC Davis where she researched and observed how brain electrical activity predicts behavior in a temporal attention task through electroencephalography (EEG).

She is extremely excited to begin working towards her Ph.D. and M.L.S. Her current interests lie in consent to search, interrogation methods, and false confessions.

Outside of academia, Yanelli loves going to the park with her dog Phoebe (named after the character from the television series, Friends), cooking, going on walks, and internet shopping.
