Alicia entered clinical psychology program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Fall 2006. Her research interests incorporate various aspects of substance abuse and dependence such as vulnerabilities to addiction and psychological co-morbidities. Specific interests examine the relations between substance dependence and trauma exposure. Her masters thesis examined the emotional reactivity of individuals with co-morbid trauma and substance dependence histories compared with those without the vulnerability.  Her dissertation examined emotion dysregulation pathways that linked childhood sexual abuse histories with binge drinking on campus.

Alicia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from UNL in May 2006. Under Dr. Debra Hope and Dr. McChargue, Alicia worked as an ASTP research coordinator and completed an honors thesis examining the "maturing out" process in the relationship between perceived drinking norms and college binge drinking. Alicia received the 2005-2006 Most Outstanding Psychology Undergraduate Student Award (Wolfe Award).

Alicia completed her internship at the Missouri Health Sciences Psychology Consortium and recently accepted a faculty position at the Department of Psychology, Creighton University.
