Liah Haines, a third-year neuroscience and Spanish double major, is serving as the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues Intern this year. In this role, she helps promote, coordinate, and execute public events specifically curated for Honors students.
She said the experience has given her the chance to connect with leaders in the neuroscience field. One of her event’s featured guests, 19th and 21st U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, is the co-chair of the World Health Organization's Commission on Social Connection. Overall, she said the experience has allowed her to help curate events that foster belonging and connection within her community.
“This work is more important now than ever, and I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity,” she said.
