Eric Elbogen, PhD (ABPP) is the recipient of the Law-Psychology Program's 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award. He will deliver his award address on Oct. 8 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Burnett Hall, room 80. The event is free and open to the public.
Elbogen (PhD, '01) is a board-certified forensic psychologist whose research and clinical work bridge law, policy, and mental health services for military veterans. A principal investigator on studies of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and Department of Energy, he examines violence, criminal justice involvement, financial well-being, and alcohol use after deployment, and he leads mobile-technology clinical trials. He directs the Veterans Affairs (VA) National Veterans Financial Resource Center (FINVET) and conducts forensic assessments at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC.
The University of Nebraska Lincoln's Law-Psychology Program, established in 1974, trains scholars who are engaged in basic and applied research and writing on psychosocial issues and problems related to the law. The Department of Psychology, part of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Law jointly sponsor the program. It is the world's oldest ongoing integrated program in psycholegal studies, uniquely offering a breadth of training with students specializing in virtually any area.
